Peer Review Process

Double-Blind Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Advanced Ayurveda Research & Innovation (JARI) follows a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review system to ensure fairness, objectivity, academic integrity and scientific quality.

Under this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Authors must therefore submit a separate blinded manuscript that does not contain author names, affiliations, acknowledgements or identifying information.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine:

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope
  • Compliance with submission guidelines
  • Ethical compliance
  • Scientific quality and originality
  • Language and presentation quality
  • Plagiarism screening requirements

Manuscripts that do not meet basic editorial requirements may be returned to authors for correction or rejected without external review.

Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to qualified independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.

Typically, each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two reviewers.

Additional reviewers may be invited when necessary.

Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and novelty
  • Scientific rigor
  • Methodological quality
  • Ethical compliance
  • Clinical or practical relevance
  • Quality of analysis and interpretation
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Appropriateness of references
  • Contribution to the field

Review Recommendations

Following evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Minor revisions required
  • Major revisions required
  • Reject

The final publication decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately designated handling editor, taking into consideration the reviewers' recommendations, editorial assessment and applicable journal policies.

Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests should carefully address all reviewer comments and submit:

  • Revised manuscript
  • Detailed response to reviewers

The Editorial Office may send revised manuscripts for additional review when necessary.

Final Decision

After completion of the applicable peer-review and revision procedures, the Editorial Office will communicate one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted
  • Accepted with minor editorial corrections
  • Further revision required
  • Rejected

Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, scientific quality, ethical compliance and relevance to the journal.

Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.

Editors and reviewers shall not disclose, discuss, distribute or use unpublished manuscript content for personal or professional advantage.

Conflict of Interest

Editors and reviewers must declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest.

Individuals with significant conflicts of interest will not participate in the review or editorial decision-making process.

Review Timeline

JARI aims to complete the initial editorial screening promptly and to communicate editorial and peer-review decisions as efficiently as possible. Review timelines may vary depending on manuscript complexity, reviewer availability and revision requirements.

Appeals

Appeals will be evaluated by an editor or editorial panel not directly involved in the original decision, wherever practicable. Any individual with a relevant conflict of interest will be excluded from the appeal process. The decision following consideration of the appeal shall be final.

Commitment to Quality

JARI is committed to maintaining a transparent, ethical, fair and constructive peer review process that supports the advancement of high-quality research in Ayurveda, Panchakarma, Integrative Medicine, Digital Health, Traditional Medical Systems and related interdisciplinary fields.

Submissions from Editors and Editorial Board Members

Editors and Editorial Board members are permitted to submit scholarly work to JARI. Such submissions receive no preferential treatment and are subject to the journal's applicable editorial and peer-review policies.

An editor or Editorial Board member who is an author or co-author of a submission will have no involvement in the editorial assessment, reviewer selection, peer-review process or publication decision relating to that manuscript. The submission will be assigned to an independent handling editor with no relevant conflict of interest.

Invited Editorials, commentaries and other commissioned scholarly content may undergo independent editorial assessment rather than routine external peer review, as appropriate to the article type. The contributing editor or Editorial Board member will have no involvement in the assessment or publication decision concerning their own work.

Any relevant editorial relationship will be transparently disclosed in the published article.
